Leo Meeting Minutes
April 20

Attendance: Madison, Carlie, Macy, Blake, Abbe

Leos – Leos are meeting with Zoom and whenever possible in person.  They are eager to meet in person and plans are to meet outdoors at the pavilion when the weather gets warmer despite virtual school.  Discussion at the meeting included

  • Outdoor beachball volleyball in the yard at Plainview Assisted Living.
  • Help out and have a fundraising concession at “Walk in the Park.”   Robin is invited to the Leos next meeting.  Carlie volunteered to do scheduling and volunteer hours.
  • Trash/beach pick-up at the State Park waterfront. Madison will check on that in a week or 2 as the weather gets warmer.
  • Penny War by grades at Western.  There is some concern over the prizes for the grade that would win.   It has been proposed that if the “Penny War” happens all the names of the students from that grade would be put in a hat.  There may be $5 gift cards for 20 winners.  The winners will be drawn randomly from the hat.  That way, the school may send the card to the winners if the LEOs are not able to acquire the address and also if after the war the school goes virtual.   The LEOs are asking $50 from the Auburn Williams Lions Cub to assist them in this activity.
  • The Leos want to have an informative Zoom Chat on May 19th, addressing the Leo State Summer Camp.  A presentation or video was suggested be part of the chat.
  • The Leos would like to invite 6th to 8th graders from area parochial schools to join them in their late spring and summer activities.  Deb has contacts and will follow through on that.
  • Elections and induction of new members will occur in May.  The date and location is uncertain but it will definitely be in the afternoon on a Tuesday.
  • Quite a few members have not turned in their 20-21 LEO Application
  • Abbe, Carlie, and Madison met with Deb over ZOOM to see how membership and meeting information is recorded to International.  This is the secretary’s job.
